Seniors Week 2026
Bogan Shire Seniors Week is fast approaching next month (March 15 to 20). Nominations are now open for Bogan Shire Senior Citizen of the Year and will be closing on the first Friday in March. Nomination forms are available using a link on the Bogan shire website. Paper copies are also available at the front counter of the Bogan Shire Council Chambers and Bogan Shire Library.
Community Rifle Club?
Nyngan community members will be holding a meeting at the Aussie Hotel next month (March 6), in relation to commencing a rifle club in Nyngan.
All community members are welcome to attend if it is something of interest to you, particularly under proposed changes to the new firearms laws.
Having a local rifle club will help locals who hold a firearm licence meet requirements without excess travel to meet requirements.
Road Works
Over the next fortnight throughout the Bogan shire, maintenance will be undertaken with shoulder grading, heavy patching, and bitumen resealing work on sections of the Mitchell Highway, Barrier Highway, and Arthur Hall VC Way.
Continued resheeting sections of Honeybugle Road and construction of the Nyngan Emergency Bore Pipeline, along Old Warren Road will continue. We urge motorists to observe traffic signage to ensure traffic and worker safety. There will be a number of work locations on our highways.
Carp Muster this Weekend
The Nyngan RSL Fishing Annual Carp Muster is on in Nyngan this coming weekend (February 21). Get down to the Bogan River Rotary Park in Nyngan. Contact the Carp Muster organisers for further details.
Monthly Paediatric Clinics Coming to Nyngan
The Bogan Shire Medical Centre, in collaboration with Little Wings - Medical Wings, is starting monthly paediatric clinics later this month (February 26).
We are very pleased to welcome Dr Nicholas Wood who is a general paediatrician and immunisation specialist, to Nyngan.
He has worked at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead since 1996 and is a Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Sydney.
Dr Wood is passionate about child health and wants every child to achieve their best health and wellbeing.
To make an appointment to see Dr Wood, contact the Bogan Shire Medical Centre and they can provide you with information on booking into these clinics, with a referral.
On another note, myself, council, Bogan Shire Medical Centre staff, and the Bogan Shire Medical Centre physiotherapist would like to thank Nyngan Ag Expo for their generous donation of the new physiotherapy equipment for the Bogan Shire Medical Centre.
