Nationwide Telstra outage
A major outage of Telstra network has affected people nationwide, this morning with the outage affecting mobile and data connectivity as well as phone calls.
“We're looking into an issue affecting some mobile calls and data connections,” a Telstra statement has said.
“If you're having trouble connecting at first, try again as it may work on a retry. We're on it and will share an update as soon as it's fixed. Thanks for bearing with us,” Telstra said.
The outages were first noticed by Downdetector. noting spikes around 4.30 Wednesday morning, the federal government are also aware and working with Telstra.
Telstra is relied on by millions of Australians, and is the nation's biggest telco company it is believed that hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by the outage this morning including transport, businesses, and official government websites.
“We don’t yet know the root cause, we are investigating that urgently,” Telstra CFO Michael Ackland said this morning.
“We do ask customers not to test and try out Triple Zero unless you need Triple Zero.
“We take these outages very, very seriously. We will work with all our customers once returned,” he said.
