One of the region’s best-known pubs, the Nevertire Hotel, has changed hands with new owners Mick and Stacey Wells-Budd kicking off on the weekend.

Nevertire, population 225, sits at the junction of the Mitchell and Oxley Highways and is a popular stopping point for travellers and locals.

The hotel has recently changed hands with Sam and Dymphna Lawler selling after just under 20 years, to Mick and Stacey Wells-Budd.

Under the Lawlers’ management the Nevertire Hotel enjoyed a reputation for a family friendly venue with food, drinks, accommodation and children’s play area.

It holds a somewhat captive audience as the only venue of its calibre in the immediate area, and attracts patrons from Nyngan, Warren, Tottenham, and Trangie.

The Wells-Budds are no strangers to the pub industry, having owned the Hermidale Hotel for four years.

Mick was raised in the Nyngan district, and has turned his hand to many trades over the years including as a driller, a miner, farmer and publican.

Stacey was born and raised in the United Kingdom and made her way to Australia in 2009 to join her family. As well as co-managing the Hermidale Hotel, she spent seven years managing the Wilga Hotel in Narrabri.

The Wells-Budds have two children, Charlotte and Thomas, and are looking forward to joining the family-oriented Nevertire community.

The new owners officially started on Saturday after carrying out some renovations and upgrades to the premises.
