Saturday, March 21 was a fantastic day at the Nyngan Golf Club with the annual ‘Keiro’s Construction’ golf day being run, and again it was a huge success with a great field of 57 players taking part.

Of course, the day is not possible without the very, very generous support from Jordi and the whole Keighran family.

Congratulations to all the winners (and there were plenty thanks to Jordi). We hadn’t played this format of an Ambrose for a while and certainly tested a few resting brain cells for a bit, but everyone sorted it out and did very well with the scoring and deserve a pat on the back. Great golf as always by most teams, with only five points separating the top 11 teams!

Our very popular and well supported Sunday morning Ambroses continued on March 22, with good numbers continuing to turn up week in, week out. Saying that, they have now finished for the season, with the 18 hole Sunday program kicking off on Easter Sunday with the annual RBPT golf day, or as we like to call it ‘Reggie’s Day’.

Johnny Wynne combined with two ‘young guns’ Julian McDougall and Doc Burley to clean up the fantastic meat trays on offer, with an equally fantastic round of golf, well done boys! Also, well done to all our prize winners on the day, and it is so good to see plenty of our new golfers getting amongst the winners.

A few interesting things happened out on the course over the weekend. No names, but a local bank manager had a big windy on the 5th playing her second shot. I’ve got my doubts whether she’s ever even had one before…at least it takes the heat off Tony Lewis who opened his day with one the previous week! I also heard Doug Holmes might have copped one in a very tender area…not quite middle stump, but not far off it.
